Roopkund Trek

Duration: 7 Days / 6 Nights   |   Best Time: May – June & September – October   |   Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult

Starting Point: Rishikesh/Haridwar

Day 1: Rishikesh/Haridwar to Lohajung (2,300m) | 250 km Drive (10-11 hours)

  • Early morning departure from Haridwar/Rishikesh.
  • Scenic drive through Devprayag, Karnaprayag, and Tharali, with mesmerizing views of Alaknanda and Pindar Rivers.
  • Reach Lohajung, a small Himalayan village and the base for Roopkund Trek.
  • Rest and acclimatize for the trek.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Guesthouse in Lohajung

Day 2: Lohajung to Didna Village (2,450m) | 7 km Trek (4-5 hours)

  • Start the trek with a gradual descent to Neel Ganga River, followed by a steep climb to Didna Village.
  • Trek through dense oak and rhododendron forests, experiencing diverse flora and fauna.
  • Reach Didna Village, a picturesque spot with beautiful valley views.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Homestay or Campsite in Didna

Day 3: Didna to Ali Bugyal (3,350m) to Bedni Bugyal (3,500m) | 10 km Trek (6-7 hours)

  • Trek through Ali Bugyal, one of the largest high-altitude meadows in India.
  • Enjoy breathtaking views of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti peaks.
  • Continue trekking to Bedni Bugyal, another stunning alpine meadow known for lush greenery and grazing sheep.
  • Explore Bedni Kund, a small sacred lake.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Campsite in Bedni Bugyal

Day 4: Bedni Bugyal to Patar Nachauni (3,900m) to Bhagwabasa (4,200m) | 12 km Trek (6-7 hours)

  • Gradual ascent from Bedni Bugyal to Patar Nachauni, offering panoramic mountain views.
  • Trek to Kalu Vinayak Temple (4,100m), a steep climb filled with prayers and offerings from trekkers.
  • Reach Bhagwabasa, a rugged, high-altitude campsite near Roopkund Lake.
  • Experience chilly winds and snowfall during the night.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Campsite in Bhagwabasa

Day 5: Bhagwabasa to Roopkund (5,029m) and Back to Patar Nachauni | 10 km Trek (7-8 hours)

  • Early morning (3-4 AM) summit trek to Roopkund Lake.
  • Steep, rocky terrain with snow patches, leading to the mysterious lake filled with ancient human skeletons.
  • Spend time exploring the glacial lake, taking in breathtaking Himalayan views.
  • Descend back to Patar Nachauni for an overnight stay.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Campsite in Patar Nachauni

Day 6: Patar Nachauni to Lohajung | 12 km Trek + 12 km Drive (6-7 hours)

  • Descend back through Bedni Bugyal and Didna Village, enjoying the final leg of the trek.
  • Drive from Wan Village to Lohajung, marking the end of the trek.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Guesthouse in Lohajung

Day 7: Lohajung to Rishikesh/Haridwar | 250 km Drive (10-11 hours)

  • Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh, concluding the trek with unforgettable memories.
