Gangotri to Tapovan Trek

Duration: 5 Days / 4 Nights   |   Best Time: May – June & September – October   |   Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging

Starting Point: Gangotri (3,415m)

Day 1: Arrival at Gangotri (3,415m)

  • Arrive at Gangotri, the sacred town and starting point for the trek.
  • Visit the Gangotri Temple and explore the holy surroundings along the Bhagirathi River.
  • Acclimatization walk around Gangotri to adjust to the altitude.
  • Briefing about the trek and final preparations.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Guesthouse in Gangotri

Day 2: Gangotri to Chirbasa (3,580m) | 9 km Trek (5-6 hours)

  • Begin your trek from Gangotri along the Bhagirathi River through dense pine and birch forests.
  • Enjoy magnificent views of Mt. Shivling, Thalay Sagar, and the Bhagirathi Peaks.
  • Arrive at Chirbasa, a peaceful campsite surrounded by towering pine trees and serene mountain views.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Campsite at Chirbasa

Day 3: Chirbasa to Bhojbasa (3,800m) | 5 km Trek (3-4 hours)

  • Continue trekking along the river valley, following the scenic route with stunning views of the snow-capped peaks.
  • Reach Bhojbasa, an open valley offering panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Shivling and Thalay Sagar.
  • Relax and enjoy the spectacular sunset from your campsite.
  • 📍 Overnight Stay: Campsite at Bhojbasa

Day 5: Tapovan to Gangotri | 15 km Trek (7-8 hours)

  • Trek back to Gangotri, retracing your route.
  • On arrival, rest and reflect on the trek while you enjoy a warm meal.
  • Drive back to your onward destination.
